Ruth Word

Ruth Marie Word, 93, of Edmonton passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. Mrs. Word was born in Metcalfe County February 7, 1929 to the late Clyde and Wanda Williams Garrett. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Word. Two brothers, Wayne and Dewey "Pete" Garrett. Two sisters, Aline Garrett and Doris Garmon England. Mrs. Word was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting antiques and had an antique shop at her home. Mrs. Word is survived by two daughters. Dianna Word Norcross and husband Ken of New York. Deborah Buchanan and husband Jeff of Indiana. A granddaughter Brittany and great grandson Braxton. She is survived by a special friend and caregiver Adam Brown and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Ruth Word will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens near Edmonton with burial to follow. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Metcalfe County Animal Shelter in care of Edmonton Veterinary Clinic, 101 River Rd., Edmonton, Kentucky 42129.
