Ricky Bennett

February 23, 1967 — March 29, 2025

Edmonton

Ricky Bennett, 58 of Edmonton, KY passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born February 23, 1967, in Edinburg, IN to the late Herbert and Janice Grider Bennett. He is also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He found immense joy and fulfillment in his roles as a father, grandfather, and mentor, one of his mentees became a “bonus daughter”. His family brought a sense of completeness to his life. His no quit attitude took him from an HVAC apprentice to an engineer, with the title of COO, over the course of his 37 year career journey. He thoroughly enjoyed challenging himself time and time again in his professional and personal life. Always looking to learn and grow to improve his relationships with those around him.

He had a lifelong passion for Harley-Davidsons and Hot Rods, and proudly owned several, including a Fat Boy and a 2004, Black, Cobra SVT Mustang that he worked so hard for. Nature was his refuge, and he cherished simple moments in the woods, alone and with family. Whether it was a hike deep in the woods, a long country drive, or an adventure in the mini truck; it must be said that his Bigfoot call and snipe hunting skills were unmatched.

A veteran with a deep love for the military and an unshakeable faith in Jesus. His charming personality and warm demeanor drew people to him, making everyone feel like a close friend. Even his coworkers saw him as family.

On weekends, when not serving at his local church or volunteering with various ministries, he could be found outdoors on his farm or relaxing at home, enjoying sports. He was a devoted Steelers fan and lifelong enthusiast of IU basketball. But even still, nothing compared to spending time with his wife, daughters, son, grandchildren, and beloved brethren. His favorite was making others laugh. It was like a superpower of his with an endless arsenal of jokes to share, he always knew how to keep a lighthearted joy in the room.

He is survived by his wife Stacy Bennett of Edmonton, his daughter Ashley Beamon, four stepchildren Jason Lavendar, Jessica Avila, Dana Sims and Nicole Avila, twelve grandchildren and four siblings.
