Mary Porter

Mary E. Porter, 90, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at her home. She was born January 16, 1923 in Simpson, Kentucky to the late William and Evalee Taulbee Turner. She retired from Woolco and was a member of Owensboro First Assembly of God. Mrs. Porter enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed reading and crocheting. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Lee H. Porter. She is survived by four sons, Daniel (Hilda) Porter of Moorpark, California, David (Pam) Porter of Owensboro, Mark (Sherry) Porter of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Tim (Sherry) Porter of Hawesville, one daughter, Margie Travis of Owensboro, thirteen grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a sister, Lucy (Gordon) Nelson of Middletown, Ohio. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Reverend John Morse officiating and burial to follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Share your memories and photos of Mary E.
