A New Haven resident, Mr. Mark Hughes Compton, age 81, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. He was born October 30, 1942 in Edmonton, Kentucky to the late Marcum and Lucile Hughes Compton. Mark was a retired Teamster truck driver for Smiths Transfer. He was very involved with Shriners Hospitals for Children, was a member of the Aahmed Grotto where he served as the long time treasurer, and was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Highland Park Lodge #865 F&AM. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Mark Stromberg.
He is survived by his daughter, Ellen (Chuck) Stromberg of Louisville, his son, Todd (Lisa) Compton of Sellersburg, IN., 5 grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda) Stromberg, Hannah Compton, Clayton Stromberg, Emily Compton, Grant Compton, 2 great grandchildren, Addisyn and Carter Stromberg, and his special companion of 22 years, Linda Johnson.
Visitation for Mr. Mark Hughes Compton will be 3:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be Thursday at 7:00 pm. Interment will be at 2:00 pm CST on Friday, January 26, 2024 in Edmonton Cemetery in Edmonton, KY. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Butler Funeral Home of Edmonton, Kentucky is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the local arrangements.
