 Lucy Belle Brent Forbes, born January 2, 1935, departed this life peacefully on January 19, 2025, after a brief stay at TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky. Her journey was one of devotion, accomplishment, and heartfelt service to her family, church, and professional community.

Lucy was the beloved mother of one daughter, Mary Ann Forbes of Edmonton, KY and cherished cousin and aunt to numerous nieces, Bonnie (John Tuggle; children, Lucas, Shawna, and Kelly), Jill, Amy (Jeff Walter), Traci (Patrick Hayden), Laura (Louisville and Lexington areas), and one nephew, John Logan (Lori; children, Gracie, Morgan, and Jake) of Campbellsburg; and one brother, Jerry Logan Brent (Mary Ann Heady) of Campbellsburg.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Allen and Martha Louise Hardesty Brent (Chilton Legacy); her husband, William Morgan Forbes (Pendelton-Pace Legacy); and her brothers, Robert A. (Dorthy Rose) of Peewee Valley, KY, and Donald Brent (Eva Joyce) of Frankfort, KY. 

Nurturing through knowledge; a lifelong educator with early beginnings in Soil Conservation bridging to an unwavering passion for home economics and consumer sciences. Lucy dedicated over five decades to her employment at the University of Kentucky as a Home Economist, accepting many awards throughout her reign of public service. Her work transcended into being a community leader and to the classroom of learning for all. She became a respected speaker and co-author of celebrated Kentucky cookbooks that honor the art of home cooking. Beyond her professional achievements, Lucy found harmony in music a source of great joy throughout her life. Attending Western Kentucky University, sourcing her talents; leadership skills thrived. 

Lucy canvased this USA in extensive travel enjoying both professional convention locations and leisure time vacations in and out of the country. Lucy’s harmony and peace are a reflection of the balance she sought in all aspects of her life. Indelible marks and touching countless lives throughout her endeavors as well as personal relationships were enjoyed through the early Edmonton Woman’s Club, Glasgow Musicale, The Daughter of the American Revolution, her professional organization through work, The Edmonton Garden Club, and all the Homemaker Clubs she created and continued to serve.

Lucy had a great interest in sewing and creating venues often joining many activities with her daughter Mary Ann's work and social entertaining. Hobbies adored were watching birds and creating landscapes and architectural changes in her home. Lucy served on many boards with a favorite being one of the lead building frame members in Long Term Care Facilities, resulting in the Metcalfe County Nursing Facility. Lucy valued her continued lifelong role as a Sunday school teacher at the Edmonton Baptist Church along with being a member of the choir.

Her steadfast commitment, dedication, and service left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of learning from or working alongside her. Lucy’s memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration for all who were touched by her wisdom and warmth, aspiring to keep lifelong friendships.

May her enduring legacy bring solace to those who mourn her passing while celebrating a life so richly lived.

Funeral services for Lucy Forbes will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Edmonton Baptist Church with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of the service Saturday at the Edmonton Baptist Church.
