Judith Simmons

Judy Simmons, 74, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at her home. She was born August 31, 1942 in Owensboro to the late Irvin and Evelyn Knott Goetz. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed poetry, music and art. She also is preceded in death by a sister, Angie Thompson and a brother, Jimmy Goetz. Surviving is her husband of 53 years, James Earl Simmons; 2 daughters, Deanna Calhoun and Linda (Jimmy) Richeson; 1 son, Michael (Gayla) Simmons, all of Owensboro; 5 grandchildren, Elaine (Joey) Mattingly, Daniel Richeson, Orion Calhoun, Jay Calhoun and Will Calhoun; 3 great-grandchildren, Whitney, Penelope and Audrey; and 2 sisters, Sheila Hamilton and Janet Hamilton, both of Owensboro. A Committal Service will be 11 am Monday, January 30, 2017, at Resurrection Cemetery with burial to follow. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 7 pm at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Prayers said 4:00 pm Sunday.
