Essie Gibson

Essie Mayrene (Sam) Gibson age 75 of Edmonton passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at NHC of Glasgow. She was the daughter of the late Ode and Beulah Compton. She was a homemaker and member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and after 9:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Carl Gibson of Edmonton. Three daughters. Lisa Lockhart and husband Ricky of Edmonton. Penny Riddle and husband Tim of Edmonton and Amanda Gibson of Edmonton. Three boys that were like sons. Jeff Compton and wife Michelle of Edmonton. Michael Compton and wife Keisha of Somerset. Ronnie Wilson and wife Leona of Edmonton. Two brothers, Wayne Compton of Edmonton and Veachel Compton of Louisville. Four grandchildren. Tabatha Froedge and husband Joe Billy of Edmonton. Joseph Cawthorn and wife Julie of Edmonton. Samantha Hunter of Edmonton and Felicia Meadors and husband Chris of Bowling Green. Ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Spencer Compton. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the family burial fund.
