Betty Gayle Coe Nunn, age 79, of Summer Shade, peacefully left this earth on July 13, 2021. She was born on March 25, 1942 in Turkey Neck Bend, Monroe County, to Lynn Maxey Coe and Olene Short Coe. Betty graduated from Tompkinsville High School and then attended Western Kentucky University where she obtained her Bachelors, Masters, and Rank I degrees, and taught accounting and business courses at the Monroe County Area Vocational School for 33 years. She had a passion for the Future Business Leaders of America and was a sponsor of that organization for many years, leading numerous students to achieve honors at the state and national levels, as well as inspiring several to enter the business field. Betty loved to read novels, play solitaire, and complete crossword puzzles in her spare time. She and Jerry shared a love for watching UK basketball and canning vegetables from their garden. She was a member of the church of Christ faith and originally attended services at Mount Gilead in Tompkinsville, then Hickory College in Summer Shade. Preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 33 years, Jerry Thomas Nunn, as well as her brother, Bobby Coe and his wife Sally. She is survived by her sister, Charlene Walden(William Kinnie), her daughter Laura Lynn Nunn Reed and her husband Ronnie, and her son, David Ray Nunn. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jerrica, and Annika Reed, her favorite discussion topic for many years. The family kindly requests that condolences be made in the form of a contribution to the Betty Coe Nunn Memorial Scholarship which will benefit Metcalfe County High School students attending the Monroe County Area Vocational School to assist in furthering their education. Memorial contributions can be made at any Edmonton State Bank branch. Funeral Services for Mrs. Nunn will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 17th at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton. Interment will be in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday and after 9:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
